Wintools Spyware/Virus/Nuisance Removal Page
Follow these steps:
Disconnect
physically from the internet
Boot to safe mode
Do the following:
check add/remove programs for "Wintools" or any related
apps - uninstall if found-
--if you find it wouldn't remove, saying it needs to have other
adware removed first....
check services for "Wintools for IE" or "Wintools
for Internet Explorer" -
If found, stop the service and set it to DISABLED
Then, check running processes by pressing CTRL+ALT+DEL to bring
up the
Task Manager - end any of the following process if found:
wtoolsa.exe wtools.exe wtoolss.exe wsup.exe belt.exe
Then, delete the folder: C:\programfiles\common
files\wintools
along with any similar folders referencing "wintools"
Delete contents of c: \windows\temp
Open REGEDIT (backup the registry before making any changes) -
Once in Regedit, browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
and delete any references to wtoolsa.exe, wtools.exe,
wtoolss.exe, wsup.exe, belt.exe -
Then, browse to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services
looking for any folders called WINTOOLS or WINTOOLS FOR IE -
delete them if found
In Internet Explrer - delete the contents of the Downloaded
Program Files folder -
and, finally, clear IE cache
There is no warranty of satisfactory completion and you should proceed at your own risk
